West Coast Controls design, manufacture and install custom control panels to ensure seamless communications between all systems, working closely with building owners to guarantee accessibility and usability. Additionally, we develop Bems installation software to integrate, aggregate, and facilitate communication within the building itself.
Control Panel Design, Engineering & Manufacturing
Our directly employed labour force are skilled in both panel manufacturing and site electrical installations, this flexible working arrangement ensures both value-for-money service to customers and enhanced employment prospects for our personnel.
Quality control and full bench testing is carried out before any Control Panel is shipped to site. Witness testing can also be undertaken by our Clients if required.
Please contact West Coast Controls for full details and enquiries.
Control Panel Manufacturing
Our engineers are experienced in all types of Control Panel manufacture and we can provide Form 2, Form 3 and Form 4 Motor Control Centres. The design, engineering and manufacture of our control panels takes place at our factory in Milngavie, Glasgow.
FORM 2
Control Panel Manufacture
Form 2 defines overall assemblies which are enclosed to provide protection against contact with any internal live parts or components, and where there is internal separation of the busbars from functional units. The following general conditions apply; Busbars are separated from functional units.
Form 2A
Separation of the busbars from the functional units, with terminals for external conductors not separated from the busbars.
Form 2B
Separation of the busbars from the functional units, with terminals for external conductors separated from the busbars.
FORM 3
Control Panel Manufacture
Form 3 is where the Busbar is separated from the functional units and the functional units are separated from each other via cubicles.
Form 3a
Terminals for external cabling are not separated from busbars.
Form 3b Type 1
Terminals for external conductors are separated from the respective functional unit and the busbars. Terminals are not separated from each other. Busbar separation is achieved by insulated sleeve coverings, wrapping or coating.
Form 3b Type 2
As form 3b type 1 – the Busbar separation is achieved by partitions and barriers.
FORM 4
Control Panel Manufacture
Form 4 is the highest form rating. Busbars are segregated from the functional units and terminals for external cabling in order to separate all the live parts from operators who may have a need to open an enclosure for inspection or adjustment. Primarily used in hospitals or for critical industrial processes.
Form 4a
External cabling terminals are within the same cubicle as the corresponding functional unit.
Form 4b
The external cabling terminals are not in the same cubicle as the corresponding functional unit. Alternatively, they are separated from the terminals of other functional units.

Electrical Installations
MORE THAN 25 YEARS NIC EIC ACCREDITED. West Coast Controls have achieved NICEIC approval with the majority of our labour force graded to technician level, and consequently prefer to carry out onsite electrical installations associated with our own control systems. Where necessary we employ Professional Contractors to ship, deliver and on-site position larger panels to ensure the safety of everyone working on-site.
